Can the filter be installed backwards? Someone needs to see if that can actually be done, they may be full of it. Back in the 80's I had a buddy that his dad bought a new truch that never ran right and they finally come up with the jets were put in the carb upside down ::)

I am not sure about the 700xx, but on a 450r you can put the oil filter on back wards and it will slow down the oil flow. But either way, it shouldn't have to be rebuilt. Ask the dealer to tell you exactly what is wrong and exactly what is replaced. Then post it up here and we can tell you if he is BSing or not.

It is printed on the filter which way it goes.  That specific filter also comes with an info packet.  It is the same filter used in several other machines, and it will cause a loss of oil flow to the engine.  Just heads up hw palestine is the best service department in the area.
