HI there and a few questions....
« on: November 15, 2008, 01:42:09 PM »
As a owner of many honda quads over the years(1983 atc70,1999 trx300FW,and 2007trx420FW)i have a few questions about the new 700xx.I don,t own one now but i figure this is the best site on the planet to ask questions before i purchase one in the next 6 months. So here are the questions......What kind of fuel does the manual say it can burn,87 octane or does it require 91octane? Do the fenders protect you from sand and mud that flys up at higher speeds or are they like most sport quads just there for show? Can it go places that most 2-wheel drive quads(like my 420 when in 2wheel drive)can travel like deep mud? And what kind of fuel mileage can you get out of a full tank?

91 Octane.

You WILL get muddy.

I don't know how well they will do in the mud, but I would guess as good or better than any 2-wheel drive quad.

Mileage? Good, but I don't know the exact figure. I know I put at least 45 miles on mine without getting into my reserve.

Thanks XX,only seen the bike in person twice but i know this may be my next quad. The 91 octane is a little annoyance and the area i ride contains alot of wet conditions that can splash back from the wheels. The ground clearance is better than my TRX4204x4FE.I could buy the bike right now with cash but i want to wait because winter is coming(snowmobile season) and to see how this global money crisis will affect me getting a job next year.Seems like the fuel mileage is close to my 420.Hope perfex comes out with a plastic skid plate for the 700xx.

I hear the fenders are supposed to help funnel air to the radiator but I'm not certain on this.  The first time I took mine through mud it wasn't very much at all and I was quite muddy.  The ground clearance makes getting through mud and different terrain a lot easier without bottoming out.  So far I have had no trouble anywhere I have taken mine.  I have a pond with many different creeks running out of it with water and anything I've thrown at the machine so far it has dominated.  I can't wait for the snow here and hoping I can still have fun with my quad all winter.  We'll see how it handles the snow.  It doesn't snow enough to get a snowmobile here   :(

You can run 87, but for all quads it is recommended to run 91.

I am a snowmobiler myself(04 YAMAHA RX WARRIOR,INSANE power,112 MPH bone stock)so a sport quad would give a sporty feel for a sledder.Snowmobiling is my favorite thing and we usual get lots of snow here.I been waiting 10 years for a quad like this and glad honda came with it.Yamaha makes great sleds but there quads can,t compare to hondas.
