Installed the "Big 3" plus header
« on: November 28, 2008, 08:22:26 AM »
Monday I finally received all my parts. FMF Q4 Exhaust, FMF PowerBomb Header, Velocity Air intake and HMF Optimizer. The install for all the parts was very simple and straight forward. I seen a few post of the Velocity being hard to install but it was very simple and went right on. The Optimizer didn't take much either you can install it with only removing the seat and plastic shielding. The exhaust only required removal of the small body plastic near were the header and and mid pipe connect. I was surprised to find out you only use RTV sealant when installing the header and muffler together, There is no need for a clamp.
Well on to the before and after results..... HAHA! Its been raining ever since  :'(.  I tried to go ride across the street in a a field but you cant even roll the throttle in fourth without breaking loose! Keep in mind this is in a wet field though. Hopefully it'll dry soon to catch traction and feel how much harder it'll pull.
Lastly.... After only ten or fifteen minutes of ride time the dam canister blew a gasket at the rear of it. I had to pull it off and send it back for a exchange. Although I loved the sound of the exhaust I asked them to send me the PowerCore 4 instead if they could. I think the Q4 may have had to much back pressure resulting in the blown gasket.

Where did you purchase the "3"?  I have been wanting to do this as well.  I am also interested in the new ITP wheels and tires, but cannot seem to find them either.  Not too many aftermarket parts out for the XX...

I got all of my items from eBay, a few days afterwards I found this an awesome deal in the link below. If you are not looking to purchase it all together I have a HMF EFI Optimizer for sale, It only has about 10 min run time on it. I'm only selling it to get a power commander to fine tune it on a dyno. let me know if your interested.

PRM had a deal on a FMF Q4 S/A muffler, FMFs/s powerbomb header, vortex airfilter kit and FMF programer for UNDER $700 shipped.  They only had one set for a 700XX they decided not to build.  It should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Does anyone know the inside or outside diameter of the power bomb header? (where the slip on would fit)

does it exit in the stock location?

So theoretically, you could put the power bomb on a stock muffler?

Do you think the header alone gave you a worth while in jump in power?  All I everwant to do to the bike is full intake, full exhuast, nothing internal for a while.

The stock muffler has a smaller pipe than the header. I think stock is 1 1/4"

I'm trying to figure out if my gixxer slip on will fit one.
