Power Commander + Custom Map from a shop $$$

So i called a local shop that actually has a ATV Dyno.  They want $300 for the PC3 which I didn't think was bad but they want $300 to tune it for a custom map - is that right?!

Yep sounds about right, The honda shop here has a ATV dyno and wanted 250 to do the same. He was kinda hinting at 250 minimum

Do I actually NEED it dyno tuned?  I mean all i'll have is a filter and a slip on.

No not really, You can get a map from another member and run it. You could always jus get my HMF optimizer

 Bike is still apart for the build, I got one from Trailin me at Club700xx, I don't thing mine will be suitable for your bike once its dyno'd. I got one from him to have something to start with. He said his map doesn't make the bike kill or stumble so it must be cool.

hmmm.... i guess the BEST way would be to put it on a dyno... but it doesn't have to be...

How does the dyno make a map for the pciii?

Yea the correct/best way is to put it on the dyno. The dyno only shows any gains or loses in the changes you manually put in the PC. Most dyno's have Air/Fuel monitors also to ensure you don't program to lean and burn pistons up.

The way I see it is that (and I'm assuming here) you get the added satisfaction that if you have to warranty something out that the Honda dealer worked on it last yadda yadda yadda.

Just an FYI but if you go up to Little Sahara they have a shop up there that charges like, $50 and hour. My buddy with his 450r brought his there when we went and they were super nice and helped him tune it right there on the dyno. They had an exhaust sniffer and everything.

Honestly, I could benefit from buying an LC2, o2 reader with as many cars as we have/work on between my buddies and i so i might just do that...

although i do want to goto little sahara sometime this coming year, you down when we go?

 I've got a PLX wideband setup from TT 300zx, not sure if it would work in the end of the muffler though. May have to hook it up and see what it reads

When are you thinking about going? I usually go on a big trip like that (hey, it's a big deal for me) once a year.
