but the Velocity has more surface area. Installing the outerwear does not change surface area of the actual filter.

You're kidding right?

If you put a bag over a sponge it's going to have less surface area. The air still has to go through the outerwear no matter what.

That being said though I don't know how much better brand "x" flows over brand "y" or how much that flow represents in HP numbers. I'd be willing to bet a frosty cold coke that it's less than 10% +/-.

I think we are looking at it two different ways... I do not believe the outerwear will limit either one of the filters max potential CFM. That being said I believe the Velocity flows more due to more surface area. There are a million things that can effect either also as in type of filter material, thickness etc. I do agree there may not be a huge difference in flow between the two basing it on both are similar in construction.  Me purchasing the Velocity settled my bothering tick of having to get every last bit outta something and that being a high flow filter. Either way.. Its jus our opinions, 5W0P3 will have to decide what will satisfy him.

I bought my Velocity thru Alba, no problem. And yes, their hold music does SUCK. I even told the sales guy that after they left me on hold for five minutes and I almost shot myself!

I was going to go with the Uni (foam filter) because they filter dust a little better than the gauze type. But after I cleaned my stock filter I decided that I would never own another foam filter!!

You don't need a programmer for the filter, Running without the lid can increase flow but you have to be the judge on if you think its needed depending on your riding conditions. I believe the moose is a foam filter, Just ask when you order.

It's different companies. They both perform similar but sound different.

If you do a filter and/or the EHS lid do you have to get a tune?
