Hot Exhaust
« on: April 28, 2009, 04:20:36 PM »
Ok!  The ride was great this weekend except that I burn my leg a couple of times on the header, too hot to wear pants.  So I did some research and found this company www.hmelliott.com which will ceramic heat coat my header for around $45 so I'm sending mine in tomorrow and will know the actual cost of it  either Friday or next week.  It takes about 1.5 week turn around since they are busy around this time year which is ok since it'll be raining this weekend.

Once I have it install, will let you klnow the outcome.

That is awesome, I really like that idea... What are the downfalls of this?

No downfalls to ceramic coating the header. All positive effects

I put a full header and silencer on my 700xx from WeaponMX - The silencer canister is carbon fiber.  I simply wrapped the header with exhaust heat wrap, then sprayed it with high-temp silicone.  Ceramic or not, the pipe is still going to get hot.  The advantage really comes from pushing more of the heat out of the back and away from the engine, moreso than keeping the heat from your leg.  Post some pics, so we can see how it looks, though.

My buddy got his XX's header wrapped. It looks really good. I just don't like how it looks after a while, especially when the mud gets on it.

i paid that price for cam/springs INSTALLED. it was a decent cam, but like said there are better options out there. You will lose some low end w/ the hot cam
